Message from President Tokuhisa
2020.04.08
The Japanese government has declared a state of emergency in response to the evolving situation of the COVID-19 outbreak.
As we have informed you in the separate announcement, Chiba University is to start the new academic year on May 7 and is restricting campus entries until then.
We take these measures for you to be able to stay at home as much as you can. Please refrain from nonessential outings, and avoid closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings when you truly need to go out.
To protect your precious lives and ensure your safety eventually prevents a spread of the virus to the elderly who are at much higher risks and consequently avoids the social collapse of our communities, our countries, and the entire world.
You might be feeling uneasy about not being able to start your study on campus, but please be assured as our faculty and staff members are preparing every possible thing to deliver you distance learning in high quality.
Please be reminded that you are expected to observe your health condition, be strict with yourself, and take responsibility for your behaviors as Chiba University students even under current difficult circumstances.
April 8, 2020
Takeshi Tokuhisa
President,
Chiba University
