Chiba University has been promoting the establishment of overseas offices in response to the globalizations of the university's educational and research activities.
In 2007, the university opened its first overseas office, Chiba University China Office in Beijing, China. The native coordinator handles various projects in cooperation with International Affairs Division of Chiba University, including communicating with universities and institutions in China, assisting prospective students, and expanding the academic networks in China.
In 2010 - 2016, the university also opened 10 more overseas offices, International Exchange Centers at Mahidol University in Thailand, Zhejiang University in China, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Finland, Universitas Indonesia in Indonesia, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, University of Monterrey in Mexico, Russian State University for the Humanities in Russia, University of Cincinnati in U.S.A., Chiba University Ho Chi Minh City Office in Vietnam, and Berlin Office in Germany. These centers serve as liaison between the two universities, and also strengthen academic relationship through joint Research programs and student/researcher exchange.
