November 5 is the Foundation Day of Chiba University.
On May 31, 1949, Chiba University was established as a new national university by the amalgamation of seven institutions. We held the opening ceremony in the auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine on November 5 of the same year. Since then, we have marked this day to celebrate our Foundation Day.
We are expecting to celebrate its 75th Anniversary in 2024, two years from now.
At the time of its establishment, the university consisted only of five faculties; it is now a comprehensive university with ten faculties and 17 graduate schools. The pointed part of the Chiba University logo (left) represents the ten faculties.
The 75th-anniversary commemorative logo (right) we launched the other day is colorfully expressed in the colors representing the ten faculties, making it a mark that conveys the characteristics and integration of each faculty of Chiba University.
As a national comprehensive university, we aim to nurture young talents with a wide range of education, intelligence, and a high level of expertise, hoping they will make an impact on the world in the near future. We will do our best to make Chiba University be the pride of the citizens and alum.
